Neil's Tree Farm - Michigan
Labels.jpg (7448 bytes)
Jack Neil grows thousands of perennials every year. With thousands of plants come thousands of tags. Jack came up with a simple and effective system to organize his picture tags that requires little effort to assemble and maintain.

With plenty of room in his potting barn Jack maintains a wall of perennial plant tags.

One day while in a large building supply store Jack noticed these easy to hang wire shelves.   He headed home with the shelves and the anticipation that his tags would fit between the plastic coated wire.

As you can see the tags fit very nicely. The perennial picture tags are organized from A-Z. One shelf holds hosta, daylilly and grass tags. The other holds all remaining perennial tags. To keep the tags together you must use a rubber band.

One potential problem is that some picture tags are getting larger. Jack notes that the wire can be bent to accommodate the new tags.

This is an easy project for a rainy day. It will quickly pay for itself by the time you save searching for plant tags.
