Blue Sterling
Nursery is undergoing a major expansion this fall. Look at all the work taking place.
The heavy equipment takes charge.
Then the hard works starts. Tons of detail work must be completed on the Propicana
greenhouse before the surrounding area can be developed.
Over the next 4 years a major expansion
will be taking place at Blue Sterling Nursery. First, grading work is started. All water
will be retained in large ponds. Then construction begins on the Propicana. This is a
Dutch greenhouse. It is 21,000 sq. ft. or approx. 100 x 200 feet. This is a state
of the art propagation greenhouse. Everything is computer controlled. The entire area has
rolling benches to make moving plants easy.
Work has also started on the first ten of forty production houses. The production
houses are 30' wide, 15' tall and 400' long. Watering in each is controlled by a multiple
zone irrigation system. The plan is to add 10 to 20 houses a year until at least 40 are
built. Overall, in the next 4 years Blue Sterling is adding about 85-95% more growing area
to the nursery. By early December 2000 the initial group of production houses and
Propicana should be on line producing future crops of
"Genetically Superior Cultivars"!
