Many acres of trees are
grown for 1 to 2 years in production beds. The trees are
grown very close together. Many shrubs are grown the same way but usually
only inches apart. After 1 or 2 years the trees are moved into fields and planted at
regular spacing (usually around 3 to 6 feet apart). Some trees are put into containers.
These young trees are trained into great liners by proper pruning, staking, fertilizing
and similar care.
